Managing Skills and Languages
A well-organized section for your skills and language proficiencies is essential so recruiters can immediately see if you meet the job requirements.
Adding Skills
- Navigate to the Skills section.
- Click on + Add Skill.
- Type the name of the skill (e.g., "Project Management", "JavaScript", or "Customer Service").
- Optionally, you can specify your proficiency level (e.g., Beginner, Intermediate, Expert).
Tip: Focus on hard skills (technical knowledge, software) and keep soft skills (teamwork, flexibility) to a minimum. It's better to demonstrate soft skills through concrete examples in your work experience descriptions.
Adding Languages
Foreign languages are highly valued in many professions. PARAT allows you to list them separately.
- Go to the Languages section.
- Select or type the language.
- Indicate your proficiency level. We recommend using standard frameworks (like CEFR A1-C2) or clear terms like "Native", "Fluent", or "Basic".
Tips for selecting skills
- Quality over quantity: Don't list every single software program you've ever opened. Focus on the tools relevant to your target job.
- Be honest: Don't overestimate your abilities, especially with languages. You might be asked to switch languages spontaneously during an interview!
