Tips for the "About Me" Summary

Tips for the "About Me" Summary

The summary (often called "About Me" or "Profile") is the first thing a recruiter reads on your resume. This is your chance to make a strong impression in just 3 to 5 sentences.

Why a summary is important

A strong introductory text gives your resume a personal touch and highlights your most important qualities before the reader dives into the details of your work history.

How to write a strong profile

  1. Who are you? Start with your current professional identity (e.g., "Experienced Project Manager focusing on...").
  2. What are your core strengths? Mention your 1-2 most important skills or achievements.
  3. What are you looking for? Conclude with your current career goal (e.g., "Seeking a new challenge in the field of...").

Tip: Keep it brief! The summary is not a cover letter. Limit yourself to a maximum of 300 to 400 characters.

Examples of good summaries

  • Analytical: "As a data analyst with 5 years of experience in e-commerce, I thrive on decoding complex patterns. My core strength lies in visualizing KPIs to drive business decisions."
  • Creative: "Passionate frontend developer with a keen eye for design. I build modern, accessible web applications and am looking for a team that values clean code."
